The successful candidate will engage competitive swimmers and their parents in sales related activities, specifically to present Fluid Mechanics, value based Private Swim Consulting Sessions in conjunction with our team of FM Swim Consultants. By utilizing a strong consultative sales approach coupled with a proactive educational approach, you should be adept at positioning yourself as the trusted advisor to the swimmer and responsible family members. This should be applied with Fluid Mechanics values and principles, including building customer loyalty.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sell Fluid Mechanics Private Swim Consulting packages throughout the sales region, selling new packages to existing customers, as well as converting new customers.
- Collaborate with the regional manager within the region who are selling the full line for Fluid Mechanics, as this is a co-selling environment.
- Take the lead in mentoring consultants and closing sales for private lessons, partnering with FM Swimming Consultants providing sales expertise to Consultants and customers as required.
- Leverage Fluid Mechanics sales programs which allow our customers to achieve discounts if they purchase larger or customized packages.
- Complete sales administration responsibilities, including developing and maintaining customer profiles, utilization of sales information system; timely sales information reporting; timely and accurate paperwork completion.
- Achieve and continually build technical knowledge of market and services, competitors, facilities and processes.
- Attend trade shows and other educational commitments.
- Represent Fluid Mechanics values to customers through professional presentation, understanding of the competitive swimming business and of customer needs, and excellent communication and follow through.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors Degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE
- 3-5+ years of successful territory sales experience
- Must have field sales experience, preferably within the competitive swimming industry but experience in a high performance athletic consulting areas is compatible.
- Must work very well with others in a highly team oriented, collaborative sales environment, as well as enjoy a co-selling environment and enjoy mentoring others.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of competitive swimming industry preferred
- Service orientated sales experience preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Aptitude in selling value, preferably with experience selling business to consumer.
- Demonstrated strong sales and closing skills.
- Utilize creativity in problem solving, working easily with team partners to meet customer needs -- Strong collaboration & teamwork skills as this role works with multiple teammates and managers to deliver value proposition.
- Documented track record of success in achieving sales goals.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Ability to understand customer needs and develop customer specific solutions.
- Must be professionally mature, and able to adapt to independent and team-oriented environment.
- Integrity, keeping commitments to colleagues, customers and the company.
- Solid computer skills and ability to utilize hand-held technologies, work within customer relationship management software and other sales related technical tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers & colleagues.
- Detailed and organized with the ability to multi-task.
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to analyze and understand customer sales data.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Some weekend work
- Extensive car travel within region.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to swimming pools, athletic complexes, schools, and small businesses environment.

Type: Full Time
Location: This is a field based position that covers northern and coastal New Jersey.
Pay: Salary, Commission + Benefits
