Jason Thumma
Gustavus Adolphus & Grinnell College
Jason and his brother Eric started swimming in Texas with GCAT. As a young swimmer Jason achieved a TAGS cut in the 100 breaststroke. After moving to Massachusetts, Jason joined Shawmut Aquatic Club and joined the Lincoln-Sudbury High School team. With the help of FM’s underwater technique analysis at East Stroudsburg, Jason realized his potential in the 100 fly and made it his best stroke at Massachusetts High School State, placing 7th overall. For his dedication to swimming and leadership, Jason was also elected co-captain of his high school team, along with his brother Eric.
After high school, Jason attended Gustavus Aldophus College, where he was a distance swimmer competing in the 1650, 1000 and 500 free in addition to the 400 IM and the 100 fly. After a year at Gustavus Adolphus Jason transferred to University of North Texas leaving him out of the water. His junior year he transferred to Grinnell College and resumed swimming as a distance swimmer and butterflyer. Jason graduated from Grinnell College with a BA in psychology in 2009.
